In the past few weeks, there had been a growing rumour in the Italian media about Chelsea and Napoli making a big summer deal.
With the London side interested in Victor Osimhen, it’s been said they’d like to include Romelu Lukaku in an agreement to get a big discount for the Nigerian star.
Today, CalcioNapoli24 shows up with an exclusive story where they basically dismiss any chances of this deal between Chelsea and Napoli, claiming it’s ‘almost impossible’.
Thy report there are two reasons why that agreement shouldn’t happen. The first is that the Stamford Bridge club value Lukaku at €40m, and the Serie A side disagree with that.
Then there’s the fact that the Belgian striker has a ‘monstrous salary’ which Napoli would not like to pay. Plus his age, as he just turned 31.
It then starts to look like Chelsea will find more difficulties to negotiate Lukaku this summer. This week, the Italian media claimed Roma are also not keen on paying the €40m demanded for him, and will depend on a discount to make an offer for a permanent deal.
