Sunday’s edition of AS sounds very confident, even approaching cocky, about Trent Alexander-Arnold moving to Real Madrid.
The Liverpool player has just months left on his contract at Anfield and will therefore be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club from January onwards.
Liverpool have been making efforts for a renewal but haven’t yet managed to convince the England international and those who are representing his interests.
AS state Alexander-Arnold is on the verge of being a Real Madrid player. The Spanish newspaper claims the move is ‘almost complete’ and there’s a lot of optimism around Los Blancos that the move is actually going to happen.
Real Madrid would have preferred a move in January given injuries to key players, but there’s now an acceptance that the summer is the right time.
As far as AS have it, Alexander-Arnold is keen to leave Liverpool on a good note and therefore wouldn’t want to push for an exit midway through this season.
Instead, it’s explained Real Madrid want to get all the contractual details finalised in January, although the club will keep quiet about it so as not to upset Liverpool.
