The back page of Thursday’s edition of Marca has more bad news for Chelsea fans who would rather like to see Eden Hazard stay at the club beyond the end of this season.
Once again, France Football’s Kylian Mbappe story is rubbished. It’s stated that Real Madrid haven’t got an offer ready for the PSG player and don’t plan to either, not this summer anyway.
For fans and journalists who choose not to believe that, feeling Florentino Perez has gone back on such claims previously, including when he signed David Beckham, it’s made clear that they better ‘believe it’ because it’s not changing.
The transfer market is very different now and Madrid know if they try to work on Mbappe then PSG won’t think twice about going to FIFA, and they don’t want a war.
Neymar has also been discarded, partly because the club’s fans no longer fancy signing the player.
Given all of this, it’s stated Hazard will ‘almost certainly’ move to Real Madrid this summer. The Chelsea player’s desire to do so is one reason, and that he’s a star name who is achievable.
The only question comes over price, and that’s the one potential bump in the road.
Of course, it was always this way but Hazard having a year left of Chelsea contract adds pressure to the situation.
Marca then claim that in 2021, Real Madrid do plan to move for Mbappe, when he too will have a year left on his deal. For that to work, he can’t renew beforehand.
