It may now seem like a long time ago, but just one month ago, Alfred Schreuder was very close to becoming Leeds United’s new boss.
The coach, who had left Ajax in January, even flew to England and watched one of the Whites’ games in the Premier League, having engaged in serious negotiations to replace Jesse Marsch.
Leeds then gave up on the signing, with Schreuder and his agent being forced to return to the Netherlands.
Now it turns out that the manager has had a new job opportunity on his table. That’s to take charge of Club Brugge.
The Belgian side sacked Scott Parker following their 5-1 defeat to Benfica in the Champions League round-of-16 on Tuesday evening. And according to HLN, they’d like to have Schreuder back at the club, where he won the Belgian title in the 2021/22 season.
However, it’s said the manager is ‘not eager’ to join Club Brugge now, and ‘it makes more sense for him to wait until the summer’. Especially because he’d like a long-term contract, and the club have a different opinion on that.
Meanwhile at Leeds United, Javia Gracia is off to a tough start, with two defeats and one win so far.
