Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez helped Chile to a crucial 3-1 victory over Uruguay on Tuesday night. Missing the previous game due to injury, the Arsenal forward was once again important for his country and scored twice.
It was all the more impressive given Sanchez has been carrying a muscle injury, something which has been of concern to Arsene Wenger ahead of an important period for Arsenal.
Wenger has said Sanchez will be assessed by the club’s medical team ahead of the match against his arch rival Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, but the player himself is under no doubt – he’s fit to play.
Speaking after Chile’s victory, Sanchez is quoted by La Tercera as saying: “I travel to London today. I’m training on Friday and travel the same Friday to Manchester to play on Saturday at noon. No problem to play.”
Sanchez has never been a player to let pain get in the way of playing football, but Wenger will want to be sure the footballer isn’t pushed to far, and ends up getting a more serious injury, creating a bigger Arsenal problem.
