Ajax are yet to receive any indication from Liverpool that Tuesday’s Champions League clash will be postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
That’s according to De Telegraaf who say that they’ve learned the game is yet to be postponed, at least from what they have been able to learn via ‘enquiries’.
The United Kingdom is currently in a period of mourning following the passing of Queen Elizabeth on Thursday.
That has led to postponements of several sporting events, including all Premier League fixtures this weekend.
There is still no definitive stance on what will happen to English sides competing in Europe, though, with West Ham’s clash against Viborg allowed to go ahead on Friday.
Liverpool are one of those set to play in the Champions League in midweek and De Telegraaf report that Ajax ‘have not received any information’ as yet regarding the fixture.
They’ve were in ‘repeated contact’ with Liverpool and UEFA on Friday and for the time being there is no reason to believe that the clash will not take place.
Police and local authorities are also yet to comment on the fixture, so the belief in Amsterdam is that it will be taking place as planned.
