According to a claim in the Turkish media, Trabzonspor are closing in on Southampton forward Paul Onuachu.
The Nigeria international spent the 2023/24 season on loan with the Super Lig side and has been linked with a return in the past 12 months. During his time in Turkey, he scored an impressive 17 goals in 25 appearances.
Gune Bakis today report on the latest developments regarding Trabzonspor’s pursuit for the Southampton player after they failed to re-sign him last summer.
It’s claimed the Trabzon side have reached an agreement with the 31-year-old, who is reportedly keen to play for his former club. There are no retails yet of the length of contract or salary being offered to the attacker.
However, the transfer fee still needs to be agreed, with claims the Saints are looking for an offer of in the region of €5m. Trabzonspor still want his valuation to be reduced and are hoping the fact the player has a desire to play for them will make this happen.
Onuachu has made 27 appearances for Southampton last season, scoring four goals. He’s contracted to the English club until June 2026.
