The transfer of Danilo from Palmeiras to Nottingham Forest is causing some controversy in Brazil.

It was in January this year that the City Ground side spent €20m to take the midfielder to England.

Even though Nottingham Forest seem to be up to date with their payments, the same cannot be said about Palmeiras. According to journalist Jorge Nicola, they aren’t sending the player’s agents their commission from the deal.

The Reds fee for the transfer has been divided into several instalments, with an €8m payment scheduled for October. It turns out that the Brazilian club, in need of money, used a bank loan to anticipate that amount.

According to Nicola, 5% of that amount should go to Danilo’s agents. Palmeiras first told the representatives they’d get that in 12 instalments. They paid the first two, delayed the third and now told them there is no money to keep up with the payments. It’s likely this ends up in a Brazilian court.

Meanwhile, at Nottingham Forest, Danilo did well in his first months, quickly earning his place in the team. He’s even been linked with a summer move away, but continues tied to the club with a contract until 2029.
