On January 20th, Calciomercato reported AS Roma’s Jordan Veretout is ‘attracted’ to work under Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.

It was also explained there is a ‘concrete possibility’ for the midfielder to leave the Serie A side in the winter market.

According to Il Messaggero, the Serie A side want to bring in a midfielder in the ongoing window. It’s claimed ‘charisma and personality’ are the first two characteristics that José Mourinho looks at to try and further bolster the squad.

Regarding Veretout, the report says he has never been a leader inside the dressing room. In addition to this, his performances have dropped significantly in recent weeks. Hence, he is one of the players who could be allowed to leave the Italian capital club this month.

The north London club get a mention as Spurs are one of the Frenchman’s suitors. In the past, Napoli were also credited with interest in the Roma player.

It’s claimed ‘the agent [of Veretout] is working’ to find his client a new club in the January window. Mourinho’s side, for their part, would have no problem with letting the midfielder leave this month, also because they could bring in another player in the same position.

With Calciomercato and Il Messaggero stating Conte’s side are in the picture for Veretout and Roma open to letting him leave, there could be a deal to be done for Tottenham.
