Leeds United are interested in Torino defender Pontus Jansson, according to reports in Sweden. The central defender could look to move away from the Serie A side this summer after failing to hold down a regular place in the team.

Fotboll Skanalen have reported Leeds United are moving in on Jansson as Garry Monk looks to bolster his options in defence before the transfer deadline.

The Sweden international was last night seen in the stands during Leeds United’s clash with Fulham, with claims the Championship side want to take the 25-year-old on loan for the season.

Despite Kamil Glik recently leaving Torino for Monaco, Jansson still looks too surplus to requirements with the Turin club.

With Giuseppe Bellusci joining Empoli on loan earlier in the transfer window Leeds Untied have been in the hunt for a defender throughout the summer.

They were linked with former Watford defender Joel Ekstrand last month, but a deal fell through over the medical.

Ekstarand has the same agent as Jansson in Martin Dahlin, and the former Blackburn Rovers forward will be hoping he can get a deal done with Leeds United this time around for his client.
