Real Betis are considering signing Manchester United’s Antony on a loan deal in the winter market.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who state the La Liga side are looking at the winger to improve their attack.
Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has made first contact with the Manchester United player’s agent, who welcomes a move to Spain in January to relaunch his career.
The 24-year-old has struggled since joining the Red Devils from Ajax in 2022 and has been reduced to a backup role as a wing-back under Ruben Amorim.
Antony’s salary is too high for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who are aiming for a loan deal with Manchester United covering part of his wage. They’ll also have to sell one of their players, preferably Assane Diao for €15m, to cover cost of the deal for the Brazilian.
Real Betis consider this deal ‘very difficult’, but the report states they ‘want to speed up the options to convince’ because the Andalusian club believe Antony’s profile is ideal for Pellegrini’s style of play.
To sum it up, they need Manchester United’s cooperation to sign the South American on loan in January.
Amorim and his side will have to make a decision on Antony.
