After a string of disappointing performances in the second half of last season, Watford’s Odion Ighalo has failed to impress this season sofar.

With just one goal in 11 appearances, Ighalo’s form in the last few months is definitely a concern for Watford and manager Walter Mazzarri.

Ighalo’s agent, Patrick Bastianelli, has been speaking to Italian website Calciomercato, and insists the player went through a difficult period, but is convinced Mazzarri is the right coach for him.

He said: “I am convinced that Mazzarri is the right coach for him. He went through rough times (because of his father’s death) but he is now determined and motivated. He scored 16 goals last season and he can even do better.”

“I would like to see him partner Okaka too sometimes, Watford really do have great strikers since they also have Deeney and Isaac Success.”

Serie A giants Napoli have been looking for a striker, and have been linked to a number of players, so it isn’t a bad idea to ask Bastianelli about Napoli’s interest in Ighalo.

However, Bastianelli claims Pozzo family wants to keep their good players, and won’t entertain the idea of selling Ighalo in January.

He added: “Transfer Market? Ighalo is an important player and he did receive a lot of interest but he is determined to do well at Watford. Napoli? Pozzo’s strategy is to keep his good players and he does not like to sell any , especially not in January.”

Igahlo will certainly be hoping to put the rough patch behind him, and make a bigger contribution in the upcoming games.
