Inter, for all their desire to sign Romelu Lukaku, still cannot put together a package good enough to convince Manchester United of letting the Belgian go.
Still, they’re working hard behind the scenes, constantly meeting with the forward’s agent, Federico Pastorello, but even he appears to be losing patience with the Italians and their dawdling.
Holding talks with Inter on Wednesday, the representative made it clear that if Inter wanted Lukaku to be their player, then they ‘need to make a move’.
So far, that hasn’t been the case, but Gazzetta dello Sport reckon it’s close, as Beppe Marotta is ‘ready to present an offer’ to the Red Devils, who could ‘settle for’ €70m.
Gazzetta explain Marotta wants to ‘postpone’ the payment through a loan (with money up front) and an obligation to purchase.
There isn’t any indication as to how the cash would be spread out, but we all know what the recent figures reported elsewhere have been: something along the lines of €10m up front and €60m later.
That won’t do, and everyone knows it.
