France’s Telefoot are reporting that Mamadou Sakho’s agent has travelled to London for talks with Crystal Palace over a deadline day transfer.

Persona non grata at Liverpool, Sakho needs to find a new club, but has, perhaps strangely, left it very late in the window.

On Tuesday morning French newspaper L’Equipe reported that Sakho had asked for a ‘few hours of reflection’ before joining Crystal Palace, concerned about joining a club in a relegation battle.

Crystal Palace have made an offer to Liverpool for a permanent transfer, which would be the Merseyside club’s preference.

There’s bound to be a distinct worry, especially given the L’Equipe report this morning, that Sakho is stringing Crystal Palace out as he waits for other offers. Should nothing else come in, then Sakho would sign for Sam Allardyce’s side.

There’s every chance a deal could be agreed which sees Sakho initally going on loan, and then that move being made permanent should Crystal Palace avoid relegation to the Championship.
