The agent of Sunderland’s Vito Mannone and Fabio Borini has told the Italian media he will assess the future of his clients in the summer. Both have been linked with moves back to Italy, but have remained with the Premier League side.
Speaking to TMW, Roberto De Fanti was asked how close the Sunderland players were to leaving the club in the last window. De Fanti said both Mannone and Borini are happy with Sunderland, but revealed there’s always the desire to return home. De Fanti confirmed there was interest from top Italian clubs, and in the summer they will see what the situation is.
“Vito and Fabio are happy to play in the Premier. We often forget that Vito and Fabio have played their entire career in the Premier League, except for one year with Fabio in Rome. Italy, however, always remains home and after a while you more and more want to go back. There was something with some top Italian clubs but there were not the right conditions. We will see this summer,” said the Sunderland player’s agent.
Mannone’s and Borini’s future at Sunderland is likely to depend on whether David Moyes can keep Sunderland in the Premier League. The North East side are currently in the relegation zone, but after the result against Crystal Palace last weekend Sunderland could yet again be on for a great escape.
