Seemingly determined to find another club, the situation between Kalidou Koulibaly and Napoli is turning uglier and uglier by the day.
With still three years left on his contract with the Serie A club, the Senegalese international wants out of Italy and his agent is doing his best to get that done, but Napoli are proving very stubborn in the matter.
Not wanting to weaken his team ahead of the new season, especially if Gonzalo Higuain is to leave for Juventus, Aurelio de Laurentiis is trying to convince player and agent to sign a new deal with them, but to no avail so far.
Speaking to Radio CRC, relayed by Calciomercato, the player’s agent, Bruno Satin, made it clear that despite talks holding place about a new deal, an agreement was still quite far off, especially with an exit strongly in the player’s mind.
He said: “They say he is a great player, but from the offer they made, you wouldn’t think that. Last year, they wanted him to leave because they said he was not focused, but last year he showed all his qualities.
“I can say to the fans to be calm because he won’t be going to Juventus. He won’t strengthen the opposition. Chelsea and Everton are still interested and are looking for a good centre-back.”
Both Premier League clubs have been strongly linked with a move for K2 (his nickname in Italy), and with rumours that John Stones remains a Manchester City target, it wouldn’t be surprising to see moves being made in the next week or so.
The player and agent have made their intentions clear, but an offer still needs to be made to and accepted by Napoli, and that certainly isn’t an easy task.
