As Simone Zaza’s loan spell at West Ham is finally coming to an end, the talks for his exit have been confirmed by the man who intermediated the transfer.
Vincenzo Morabito gave an interview to Calcio Mercato on Wednesday and made several things very clear, including how much the Hammers paid or won’t pay for having the striker for six months.
“I’m sorry for the way things went, I strongly believed in this type of operation,” he told Calcio Mercato.
“Bilic has made public the reality of the facts, that their desire is to stop the loan from Juventus. Simone now isn’t considered a player in the squad.”
As the negotiations with Valencia are really happening, Morabito wasn’t afraid of comparing the Spanish side to West Ham.
“With all due respect to West Ham, Valencia is completely another thing . A club with great history, used to fighting to go in the Champions League, something that the Londoners will never do,” he said. “Even as quality of life, the two are really not comparable.”
The intermediary also confirmed that West Ham have paid €5m for the loan, but will have no additional costs because the player didn’t reach the number of games that would make the transfer permanent. That would be €23m, and they want the same deal with Valencia.
Zaza made eleven appearances for West Ham, but couldn’t score any goals. He has a contract with Juventus which runs until 2020.
Right now Valencia are fighting relegation, and not for the Champions League. Zaza’s failure at West Ham isn’t because the club are beneath him, he didn’t do so great at Juventus either.
