On Tuesday we covered a claim from France about Wolves and Morgan Sanson.
Around a week earlier, Telefoot said Wolves were still following the Marseille player, and yesterday it was Le10 Sport’s turn to get in on the act.
It was claimed the Premier League club had submitted a €42m ‘verbal offer’ for the midfielder.
Now, Le Phoceen, a Marseille news source, has questioned it all, mainly the amount.
First off they say the French club need to sell during the summer window, with their finances dictating that. Then it’s explained Florian Thauvin and Sanson are the two bankable players, those who could bring in a good fee.
However, they believe the price would be something around €20-25m, roughly €20m less than the claimed Wolves offer.
Le Phoceen has spoken to an unnamed French agent, who agrees €42m sounds way too much for the player: “He’s a good midfielder, but I’m not sure he has the physical impact to really interest the Premier League clubs, it seems to me to be a very high price, even if the English are willing to pay sometimes disproportionate transfers.”
Wolves don’t want to be the latest club to join the list of overpayments to Ligue 1.
