As was reported on Monday, Mateja Kezman travelled to Italy at the weekend to watch Sergej Milinković-Savić and have a chat with Lazio.
The belief was that he’d arrived with two offers from clubs interested in signing his client, with €65m on the plate from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
While those opening bids weren’t expected to be enough to convince Lazio to part ways with their star, they would certainly open a conversation, which would then hopefully lead to an agreement and then transfer.
A fee of at least around €70m was believed to be required to get the Serie A side to consider a move, and Corriere dello Sport somewhat back all this up on Tuesday.
They explain that ‘by the end of May, the offers’ from the likes of Manchester United and co. ‘will be outlined’, and the agent is planning ‘appointments’ with the Red Devils and Paris Saint-Germain.
Once those have been collected, he will take them to Lazio and hopefully get a transfer sorted, as Milinković-Savić has decided to leave the Italian club after seven years there.
It’s stated that the player’s entourage feel ‘the right price to start could be €65-70m’, but that will eventually come down to Claudio Lotito, Lazio’s president.
Gazzetta dello Sport, for example, explain the chief ‘dreams of €100m’ for his star, but with just two years left on his contract and a desire to leave, that seems unlikely.
The newspaper, on their website, explain a transfer now seems ‘inevitable’, as two clubs are currently ‘in pole position’, with those being Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain’.
Lotito wants some sort of auction between the two to kick off and eventually reached his desired €100m, but Milinković-Savić’s entourage ‘think a figure of around €70m is more realistic’.
As you can see, the line is the same in both newspapers, and if they are in agreement over something (which doesn’t happen all that often), it’s probably because there’s some truth to it.
