The agent of Stuttgart midfielder Alexandru Maxim has told the German media his client would join another club if the move was right for him. Maxim has been linked with a move to Leeds United in the past week as Garry Monk looks to strengthen his squad.
ZVW have reported on comments Herbert Briem made when asked about the future of Maxim and whether he would leave Stuttgart. Briem revealed the Romania international would consider a move if a club was keen to sign him.
The agent believes a coach should only sign Maxim if the he really wants him at his club because this will make the player feel wanted, which surely goes without saying.
“A coach should say: ‘I want the player because I like him,’ This really is the basis for joy in football,“ said the player’s agent.
Only last week it was reported Leeds United have held informal talks to sign Maxim after Garry Monk’s previous attempts to sign the midfielder whilst at Swansea City. Stuttgart coach Hannes Wolf recently said they would listen to clubs interested signing Maxim because as it stands the Romanian isn’t in his plans.
However, Leeds United would probably have to wait until the summer as a deal to sign Maxim in this window is unlikely despite his agent confirming talks with the Championship side.
