Mario Pasalic had a disappointing start to his loan period with AC Milan. The 21 year old was allowed out of Chelsea in the summer, his third loan since signing for the Premier League club in 2014.

Antonio Conte had other options, and Pasalic got himself another good move after going to AS Monaco last season. However, he wasn’t getting minutes to start with and there were even suggestions of a quick return to Chelsea.

Despite all that, the player’s agent remained incredibly calm throughout, insisting it was just a matter of time before Milan realised what a good player they had on loan from Chelsea.

That calm thinking looks like it may have been correct, because Pasalic has seen his fortunes change somewhat, and now there’s even talk of a permanent transfer from Chelsea to Milan.

Speaking to Italian radio, via Calciomercato, one of Pasalic’s representatives, the very well respected Federico Pastorello, explained that Milan have first option if the midfielder leaves Chelsea.

“The relationship with Chelsea is very good. Milan have a right of first refusal. If another club did bid for the Croatian, the Rossoneri would have priority and may well sign the boy for the same amount.”

Pasalic is one of Chelsea’s most promising members of the loan army, but with a contract running out in 2018, he may well consider a permanent exit next summer. Going out on a fourth loan probably wouldn’t be ideal and so a switch to Milan looks very possible.
