The agent of former Leeds United forward Mirco Antenucci believes he made the right choice signing for SPAL last summer. The 31-year-old joined the Serie B side after being released by Leeds United at the end of last season.
Speaking to Serie B News, Silvio Pagliari was asked about the impact Antenucci has made since returning to Italy and whether it was the right decision to join newly promoted SPAL.
Pagliari explained that after the forward was released by Leeds United they had to think carefully out the player’s future. Antenucci’s agent said along with his business partner they had to find the right club for him, and SPAL were the ones who could offer what was required.
“The choice was still well thought out. It is a solid club with clear projects, so our decision was well weighted too, along with my partner Michelangelo Minieri. All went well,” said Pagliari.
Antenucci signed for Leeds United in 2014, and spent two seasons with the Championship side. The player was Leeds United’s top scorer in his first season in England, but his relationship with Massimo Cellino began to sour, which ultimately led to the forward not being offered a contract extension.
The veteran is on the verge of realising his dream of playing in Serie A, with SPAL closing in on promotion.
