Jorginho’s agent Joan Santos has told TuttoMercatoWeb that a decision on the midfielder’s future at Arsenal will be made next year.
Last Friday, the 31-year-old stated that he will definitely return to Italy at some point in his career. A day later, Santos had refused to rule out the possibility of the former Napoli man moving back to Serie A.
He has a deal expiring in 2024 and Arsenal have an option to extend it for another year.
The Brazil-born Italy international missed another penalty in Azzurri’s 5-2 victory over North Macedonia in the European qualifier last Friday. He has now missed three penalties in a row for the national team and TMW wanted to get Santos’ views on this.
Towards the end of the chat, the representative was also asked about Jorginho’s long-term future at the north London club.
When asked if the player will renew the deal at Arsenal, he said: “Everything is at a standstill. We’ll think about it after February. However, the priority remains Arsenal.”
This season, the midfielder has made 13 appearances, which includes four league starts, which came in Arsenal’s last five league games. His recent form for the Gunners has seen Jorginho return to the Italy squad after five months.
