Lucas Torreira was not included in Mikel Arteta’s plans at Arsenal last season and had to spend the campaign on loan with Atlético Madrid.

The midfielder struggled for minutes in Spain and now his future is likely to be away from the Emirates.

He’s been repeatedly linked with a move to Lazio, and two days ago, we relayed claims made by Il Tempo the player is ‘very close’ to sealing a switch to the Serie A side.

TuttoMercatoWeb interviewed Pablo Bentancur, the agent of the former Sampdoria man, and he admitted Arsenal are aware of his client’s desire to leave the north London club in the summer.

The representative also revealed where the Uruguay international wishes to move next.

“He wants to go back to Italy. They called me from France, Russia and Spain. But Lucas wants to embrace the Italian championship again to prove his worth again. Arsenal have understood the situation and will come to meet us,” Bentancur said.

Torreira has two years left on his contract at Arsenal and earlier this week, Corriere dello Sport reported that Arteta’s side are willing to sell the South American outright this summer, for ‘two instalments of €10m’.
