Lucas Perez joined Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruna in 2016 and struggled to impress in his debut season at the Emirates.
Lack of playing time at the north London club saw his agent push for a transfer to Deportivo last summer. Arsene Wenger allowed the Spanish forward to rejoin his former club on a season-long loan deal after he fell further down the pecking order following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette at Arsenal.
Perez has struggled in the 2017/18 season, scoring seven goals and registering six assists in 33 La Liga appearances. In addition to this, Deportivo were relegated from Spain’s top flight.
The 29-year-old has two years left on his contract at Arsenal. His agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle has revealed Perez “like the idea” of joining Lazio, but stressed it is too early to talk about a possible transfer to Rome this summer.
“As for Lucas, he likes the idea of Lazio, but it’s still too early to talk about it. At Lazio, there is his great friend, Luis Alberto. He still has two years on his contract with Arsenal, so we need to talk to them first,” Lovelle told Lalaziosiamonoi.it.
Perez’s representative also went on to reveal that Lazio did enquire about the Arsenal forward last summer. He said, “Lazio asked for him last year, but then nothing came of it. Lucas has always liked both Lazio and the city of Rome.”
Over in Spain, we covered links with Valencia on Thursday, and whilst there’s likely to be interest in Perez, like last summer, it’s a matter of that turning into a reasonable deal for Arsenal.
