Fiorentina Edoardo Bove joined the club last summer to avoid being forced to join Nottingham Forest instead.
That’s according to his agent Diego Tavano, of BSM Sports Management, who has revealed all to Giallorossi.net.
Bove joined Fiorentina on loan from Roma in the summer in a deal that is set to become permanent when he completes 60% of the available games.
That’s unlikely to happen as he’s made just one 17-minute appearance since the beginning of December after suffering from heart problems.
A return to Roma is more likely although whether he stays at the club, where he came through the youth ranks and has made 92 appearances in the first team to date, remains to be seen.
He left the club under something of a cloud last summer after an apparent falling out with the Italian club’s management, with Tavano previously revealing that they had tried to force his client out of the club.
He’s now gone into more detail on the matter, explaining that Roma wanted to send Bove to Nottingham Forest, but they weren’t keen on that plan.
“August 30th was a day that neither Edoardo nor I will ever forget,” he said.
“We found ourselves with our backs to the wall when faced with the possibility of moving to Nottingham Forest, with a possible loan to Olympiacos, given that the owner is the same.
“It wasn’t an option that convinced us, while Fiorentina was the right destination, so much so that I had been in contact with the general manager Pradè for weeks. We pushed in that direction, and friction arose we didn’t understand why Edoardo had to be sold for such a low fee.
“He considers Rome his home and loves its fans, but when he understood the club’s intentions, he resolutely chose Fiorentina. And in hindsight, we were right.”
