Last week, reports from Brazil said Newcastle United have made an approach for Corinthians midfielder Ederson.
According to Globo Esporte, an intermediary claimed to have an offer from the Magpies for the player, who’s currently having a good loan spell at Fortaleza.
Now as other outlets went after more information, it turns out that not a lot of people seem to be aware about those contacts.
Starting with journalist Jorge Nicola, he claims to have spoken to sources from Corinthians and Fortaleza, as well as agent André Cury, and all of them claimed it’s nothing more than a rumour.
The representative added that “there’s nothing official, it’s only the press”, and when asked about Ederson’s market value, he claimed the player is worth around €10m.
Outlet Meu Timão also tried to find out more about the story. They spoke to ‘people who take care of the player’s career’, and write there’s been ‘no formalisation of the interest to the staff’ so far.
The outlet points out that with the good season Ederson has been having at Fortaleza, he’s been complimented by scouts ‘from all over the world’, but is still to receive any offers.
