The agent of Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro has told the Italian media his client would be best suited to playing in England if he moved this summer.
With Liverpool midfielder Emre Can on the verge of a move to the Serie A champions, Sturaro’s future at the club is again under question. Although it must be said he’s a versatile player.
Speaking to Il Bianconero, Carlo Volpi was asked directly about approaches made by Newcastle United, Betis and Villarreal: “It would be very difficult to stay in Italy if it’s not with Juve. The most suitable football to the characteristics of Stefano is the English game, but from Spain there is significant interest coming.
“However, I repeat today we are far from a separation, in the next few weeks things will be clearer.”
Last month we covered reports from the Italian media Newcastle United manager that Rafa Benitez has asked for information about Sturaro after being linked with the Italian midfielder previously.
Newcastle United should expect to face competition to sign the 25 year old from Italy and Spain.
Sturaro has been keen to remain at Juventus and has a contract with the club until June 2021. However, he may struggle to get games next season with the imminent arrival of Can and may need to move on this summer.
