Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent, Fali Ramadani, ‘pushes for Chelsea and Barcelona’ as he eyes a move away from Napoli for his client this summer.
That’s according to Area Napoli, who say the defender wants to win a title outside of Italy and is thus eyeing a move to England or Spain.
They explain that the agent is ‘not giving up’ and wants to take Koulibaly away from Napoli this summer.
That’s seen him ‘advocating’ his client to several potential parties, including Chelsea, who need to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer.
His reasoning is that Koulibaly is one of the strongest central defenders in Europe and therefore deserves to play for one of the best clubs on the continent, and with Chelsea in need of defenders, that could be his opening.
Koulibaly is ready to make that step up from Napoli but wants to be paid close to €7m a year on a three or four-year deal, figures the Italian side can’t match. In fact, they want to reduce his wages and pay him over a longer deal.
More than anything, though, Koulibaly wants to win a title abroad after a career that’s not been filled with trophies thus far.
Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis knows this and is aware that this summer may be his last chance to ‘monetise’ the player as he has a year left on his current deal.
Ramadani is certainly working on getting the suitors lined up and has been offering the defender in a deal worth no more than €35m. Quite what Napoli think of that figure isn’t shared.
Barcelona’s finances are much tighter than Chelsea’s, though, meaning the Blues could have an advantage if they decide to take up Ramadani on his offer.
