Aaron Ramsey’s agents have taken interest from Everton and Newcastle United to Juventus, but a deal for either isn’t on the table at present.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who cover the Welshman’s future today after his agent sat down with Juventus yesterday.
They say that ‘not much has changed’ between Ramsey and the Italian giants, who are keen to get rid of him but don’t want to pay a penny to do so.
While both are happy to discuss a departure in January, the ‘intent’ for a separation by mutual consent is not there yet.
While the ice has been broken between both parties, who were previously divided by ‘profoundly different objectives’, there is still work to be done to find an agreement.
Everyone at Juventus feels the same way; that Ramsey’s €7m a year contract, which runs until 2023, is a burden that they need to get rid of, particularly as Max Allegri doesn’t want the player and hasn’t used him since October.
But Ramsey continues to insist he is happy at the club and will not be leaving unless there is ‘severance pay’ involved, something Juventus don’t want to even consider.
That is why they have met with his agents to try and work something out, although that is yet to happen.
Those agents did present ‘manifestations of interest’ from both Everton and fellow Premier League side Newcastle, but that is all there is at this moment in time, and it’s made clear they’re not clubs who are in the ‘top tier’ in England.
The suggestion is that Ramsey wants something a bit more glamorous, while his agents are determined to find someone who’ll pay him the same €7m figure (almost certainly after tax), which it’s hard to see Everton or even Newcastle with their new wealth sanctioning.
That is where the divide is at present, with Juventus determined to sell, but Ramsey seemingly happy to sit on his money until his agents find someone else willing to pay it.
