Fenerbahçe are preparing for life without Gregory van der Wiel, according to reports in the Turkish media.
The Dutchman arrived from PSG with a huge reputation, but has been unable to convince manager Dick Advocaat due to some poor performances, and indiscipline off the pitch.
Fenerbahçe are looking at right-back options to compete with Sener Ozbayraklı, and Fotomaç claim Arsenal’s Mathieu Debuchy has been offered to the club. Agent Ali Sapan, not a direct Debuchy representative, offered the Arsenal to Fenerbahçe’s Ali Yildirim, who’s the head of footballing operations at the Turkish club.
However, Ali Yildirim said the club aren’t looking for a right back, so he refused to back up what the media reported.
It’s claimed Fenerbahçe won’t be planning to bring somebody in and are hoping right winger Olexander Karavaev will provide back-up to Özbayraklı.
Debuchy was injured during his first start of the season against Bournemouth and is still recovering.
The Frenchman is then likely to struggle to get regular games when he returns, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger preferring Hector Bellerin.
Debuchy spent the second half of last season at Bordeaux on loan, and a similar scenario is the likeliest case in this window pending the player’s fitness.
