Starting for Newcastle in their 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, one could be fooled into believing Henri Saivet still has a future at St James’ Park.

After all, his contract does run until 2021, and with a loan spell at Saint-Etienne last season hardly going to plan, suitors aren’t exactly queuing up for the Senegal international.

There are so few, in fact, that an agent has reportedly been offering him around recently, with Toulouse one of the clubs who were asked if they would be interested.

According to La Dépêche du Midi journalist Rémi Buhagiar, a French representative offered the 26-year-old to Pascal Dupraz’s side, who turned him down despite needing a number eight in their squad.

Considering Toulouse aren’t exactly the richest Ligue 1 side around, you can understand why they would be reluctant to take on a player with Henri Saivet’s wages at Newcastle, even if it were on loan.

Unless someone is able to pay full price for him, or at least pay the majority of his wages (and only a few teams in France would be able to do so), this could be a difficult sell for the Geordies and the player’s agents.
