Manchester City’s chase for Thiago Almada continues to have every single update followed by the Portuguese media.

With the player set to have a loan spell at Sporting after the move, the Lisbon press are keeping an eye on every detail of the negotiation.

This Saturday, newspaper O Jogo comes up with a story about the financial advantage Almada would have if leaving Velez Sarsfield for Sporting.

The Argentine side keep trying to give the player a new contract to increase his release clause from €16m to €25m. This deal would pay him €400K an year.

But Sporting have a lot more to offer, according to O Jogo, since his salary in Lisbon would be between €1.2m and €1.4m an year.

O Jogo also says that agent Augustin Jimenez is back in Argentina after spending some time in Europe. And he reportedly has a new offer from Manchester City for the winger.

It’s been previously claimed the Premier League side had a €10m bid for the player refused, so this new attempt should get close to, or even match, his €16m release clause.
