Real Madrid have now stated that Álvaro Morata is ‘untransferable’, according to reports from Spain.
AS claims that the player’s agent Juanma Lopez has met the club board this Monday and showed them Chelsea’s new improved offer, but was told that the 23-year-old is not for sale.
This would also be the answer for any approaches from Manchester United, Manchester City or Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid reportedly want to have Morata in the squad for next season, and he will be considered an important part of Zinedine Zidane’s selection of players.
Morata was just bought back from Juventus for €30m, but most of the European press said this was only a move from Real Madrid to make profit by selling him in the same transfer window.
However, if AS reports are true, the Spanish side have really caught them all by surprise, as it was never a bad idea to keep a player who had such a good season in 2015/16.
Either that, or it’s a bargaining stance.
