Galatasaray are interested in Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho but the Frenchman has said he’s only interested in joining Premier League clubs, according to Hurriyet and BipSpor.
The Cim Bom (Galatasaray’s nickname) reportedly want to sign a centre back to replace out-of-favour Aurelien Chedjou, and Liverpool’s Sakho has emerged as a leading candidate. However, Sakho’s preference to stay at England could pull the plug on any deal.
Galatasaray boss Jan Olde Riekerink has given a green light for Sakho, and the club’s board also thought he could be a very good signing but the player’s manager Lyes Ghilas said his client is only interested in joining Premier League clubs.
Ghilas also pointed out that Sakho rejected Turkish club Besiktas in the summer and will do the same if Galatasaray’s offer comes. After this, Galatasaray are reportedly giving up on Sakho and turning their attention to Spartak Moscow’s Salvatore Bochetti.
With not a single minute of Premier League action this season under Jurgen Klopp, fan favourite Sakho is currently spending his time with the U23 team.
Gala was a good option for Liverpool and would have allowed Klopp to dispense of a player who has obviously annoyed him. West Brom are the most linked Premier League club, but there’s been no reports of a firm move being made.
