Even though the Nuno Mendes saga has been quiet for a while, it seems something could still happen before the end of the transfer window.
The latest reports from Portugal say the player’s agent is ‘making efforts’ to create a last minute deal and is currently ‘maintaining contacts’ with several clubs about it.
Record claims those are Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain.
Offers from those clubs are ‘likely’ to arrive in the ‘coming hours’, and even if the bids are of less than the €50m demanded by Sporting, the Lions should still listen to it.
Meanwhile, reporter Bruno Andrade says there are ‘advanced negotiations’ with PSG.
The deal would be made for around €40m. It’s claimed there are ‘other big clubs’ in the race, but the French side currently lead the talks.
O Jogo says there’s an offer of €45m already on the table, but doesn’t reveal who placed it.
Nuno Mendes has been linked to European giants since the start of the year. Manchester United and Manchester City were both said to be interested, although it’s Pep Guardiola’s side who seemed to be closer on making a bid for him at some point.
Now with the deadline day drama, perhaps the clubs will be urged to move, although it seems hard to see the Red Devils moving when they already have Luke Shaw and Alex Telles on their books
