Ruben Amorim’s association with agent Ignacio Aguillo is pushing the club to sign Nuno Mendes from Paris Saint Germain.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that Aguilo, who runs AS1 Sports, the agency who represent Amorim, Mendes and Bruno Fernandes, is a key player in Manchester United’s interest in the full back.
He explains that the Red Devils are determined to fix their longstanding problem at left-back and Amorim, through his network and link to Aguillo has ‘expressly named’ Mendes as the one he wants.
The 22-year-old is set to enter the final year of his deal in 2025 and while negotiations over an extension started well in October, they have not progressed since then.
Mendes now sees his future as being away from French capital and Manchester United would be a ‘preferred option’ for him and his entourage.
However, they may not be the only ones to come forward, even if PSG would put a €50m asking price on the player’s head.
They are aware that Mendes is ‘more determined than ever’ to depart and want to ensure they get a top price for him considering his value will only drop the closer he gets to the end of his contract in 2026.
Whether Manchester United are willing to pay such a sum remains to be seen but Amorim, thanks to his agent, has put the PSG left-back at the top of his list, nonetheless.
