When checking for updates from the Brazilian media on the future of Gabriel Barbosa, journalist Jorge Nicola is the one to look out for as he often brings quotes from the striker’s representative Junior Pedroso.

So following the claims of West Ham United’s interest in the player, this was one of the subjects approached by the reporter on Youtube last night.

And it turns out that this time, not even Nicola could get a word from the agent.

“What caught my attention is that I looked for Junior Pedroso, who’s Gabigol’s agent and who always answers me. And this time, Junior ended up not commenting on a possible interest from West Ham.”

Nicola adds that Gabigol is protected by a €40m release clause at Flamengo, but in case of a move to a club from abroad, then his price drops to €30m.

Just yesterday, we saw Globo Esporte detailing an offer which West Ham made for the striker at the start of December, when the Hammers wanted to pay €6m for a loan until the summer of 2023, and have an option to buy.

The bid, however, was reportedly considered ‘absurd’ by the Rio de Janeiro side, who won’t let their biggest star go for that little.
