Ilzat Akhmetov’s agent has joked that Arsenal and Manchester United could be options for the FC Krasnodar player next year.
The forward has a contract expiring in 2024 and his future with the Russian club beyond this season remains uncertain.
Metaratings.ru had a chat with the 25-year-old’s agent, Irakli Gegechkori, who joked that he’s in talks with both Arsenal and Manchester United over a potential deal for his client.
“The contract expires in the summer, we’ll talk in the summer. We are currently negotiating with Arsenal and Manchester United [laughs],” he said.
Metaratings.ru’s headline says the agent is in talks with the two Premier League sides for the Russia international while Gegechkori laughing after mentioning the Gunners and the Red Devils would suggest he was joking about it.
In addition to this, there hasn’t been any concrete claims either in England or Russia lately about Arsenal or Manchester United interest in Akhmetov.
There’s no real clarity with regards to the player’s long-term future at Krasnodar, although a transfer looks on the cards for next summer.
“Are we negotiating with Krasnodar? There are 10 months until the end of the contract, it’s too early. We don’t know what will happen in the world and in football in general during this time,” Gegechkori explained.
Akhmetov, who joined Krasnodar in 2022, has made 11 appearances this season, managing a goal and an assist in the process.
