Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira had a bit of an influence in one of his former teammates recent moves.
Saidy Janko, who played for the Red Devils’ academy between 2013 and 2015, has just signed for Porto, much highlighted in the local media today.
The player has spoken to the club’s official website about the transfer, and has revealed that his friend has helped him in making the choice.
“I spoke to Joel Pereira, who is my friend and plays for Manchester United,” Janko told Porto’s official website. “He explained to me the importance of FC Porto and the great influence they have on the Portuguese panorama.”
Saidy Janko, who’s a right-back, arrives at Porto to replace Diogo Dalot, who has moved to Manchester United this summer on a €22m deal.
The Swiss player even had a chance to make an official apperance for the Red Devils, but that definitely wasn’t the best opportunity. He started a FA Cup game against MK Dons in 2014, which Louis van Gaal’s side lost 4-0.
Janko left Manchester United for Celtic in 2015, and made a move to French side Saint-Étienne last summer. He’s joining Porto on a €3m deal, and has signed a contract which runs until 2021.
