Everton are unlikely to do a deadline day deal for Spartak Moscow striker Shamar Nicholson, with his agent insisting he will be staying in Russia.
The Toffees are on the hunt for further forward additions before the end of the transfer window this evening, with a replacement for Richarlison yet to arrive at Goodison Park.
They’ve been linked with a number of names around Europe and beyond, with none of them signed as yet.
The latest name to be suggested was Jackson, with a report in England claiming that the forward is one of two players Everton are looking at on deadline day.
The move would presumably be a difficult one to get over the line given the situation with Russia, with other potential transfers already scuppered due to sanctions placed on the country due to the invasion of Ukraine.
But it seems Everton won’t be getting their man anyway, as the player’s agent has insisted, he’ll be staying where he is.
“Nicholson doesn’t play because someone else decides that, but not us,” he told Sport 24.
“It’s not up to me or Shamar himself to decide whether he gets on the field or not. There is a coaching staff.
“Nicholson feels great in Moscow and at Spartak. From day one he has never let anyone doubt his faith and love for the club.
“The story about him not playing is really strange. Yes, unfortunately, due to the lack of playing time, we talked to the player about a possible transfer to another club. However, Shamar decided to stay at Spartak and fight for a place in the main squad.”
