Christian Eriksen returning to Tottenham Hotspur has been on and off in the Italian sport media since before the January transfer window opened.
Moving to Inter Milan a year ago, the Denmark international hasn’t been able to impress under Antonio Conte, with claims the manager didn’t even request his signing in the first place.
Inter saw it as a market opportunity, to get a top Premier League player for a much lower transfer fee than they would have otherwise been able to. However, they plonked him on wages so high that it’s now difficult to offload him without losing money, with a profit now completely out the window.
Sky Italia bring Tottenham back into it, and claim Eriksen’s agent has initiated ‘in-depth’ contacts with the London club about a January move. There are contacts with other Premier League clubs, however, Spurs is the only one named in the report.
According to the claims, Inter want money for a loan, whereas Tottenham don’t want to pay anything. It’s stated Jose Mourinho’s club would welcome the player back, although that doesn’t mean they’ll agree to what Inter want.
