Chelsea are in the mix to sign Ousmane Dembélé as uncertainty over his Barcelona future continues.
The winger’s deal runs down on June 30th and he’s not agreed to accept the renewal offer made by the La Liga side.
This has allowed Chelsea to enter the scene. On May 26th, Foot Mercato reported the Blues ‘fervently want to sign’ the 25-year-old on a free transfer, if he decides to leave the Camp Nou.
Sport state the France international’s future still remains a ‘mystery’ and Xavi Hernández is unclear whether he will be able to count on the player next season.
The Catalan club are waiting for a response from the ex-Borussia Dortmund man’s camp. Camp Nou sources have informed the newspaper it was their ‘last offer’. Barcelona’s version of the situation is different to that of the player’s entourage.
Moussa Sissoko, the Frenchman’s agent, admits he has received offers from other clubs, but they’ve not signed or agreed with another club. Sport points out the player is handling proposals from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
The wideman wants to continue at the club and his representatives are ‘still waiting for a new offer’ from the Spanish giants, which could come after the Extraordinary Assembly on June 16th. Barca are clear they will not improve their last proposal. Therefore, ‘the Dembélé mystery continues’.
Those in charge at the Camp Nou are of the belief the attacker is ‘more outside than inside the club’, meaning he is likelier to leave than sign a new deal.
Apart from the renewal proposal from Barca, Sport state he has offers from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
‘Time is running out’ for Dembélé, who must decide whether he will sign an extension or join one of Chelsea/PSG.
