Agent gives reasons why forward was convinced about signing for Southampton

 

Italian football agent Roberto De Fanti has given the reasons why Manolo Gabbiadini took the decision to join Southampton in the last window. De Fanti helped broker the deal and in doing so played a part in Gabbiadini becoming Southampton’s record signing.

Speaking to TMW, De Fanti was asked why Gabbiaddini signed for Southampton despite interest from other clubs. The agent said a big aspect was the chance to play in a major competition like the Premier League, but it was also Southampton’s desire to land the player. As the Premier League side were willing to break their transfer record it showed how much they wanted Gabbiadini at the club.

“Being able to play in the biggest tournament in the world, the Premier League. And he’s now the most expensive purchase in Southampton’s history which certainly demonstrated the high esteem in which the club has placed in him,” said De Fanti.

With the departure of Gonzalo Higuaín to Juventus last summer it was expected Gabbiadini would have been given a chance at Napoli this season. However, the Italy international struggled to get playing time, and was eager to leave the Serie A side in the last window.

The forward has already shown the Southampton fans what he can bring to the team after scoring on his debut against West Ham United at the weekend.
