AS Roma’s wish to sign Bernard from Everton continues being a constant topic in the Italian sports media.

Earlier today, we already covered claims from newspaper Corriere Dello Sport which said ‘the club would strongly turn’ to the Toffees player in case they fail to get Stephan El Shaarawy from Shanghai Shenhua.

And as Calcio Mercato brings an update on Roma’s situation today, they claim that this alternative is already being worked on.

They report that the Giallorossi are having a hard time getting El Shaarawy, and as they now look for the other plans, Bernard’s departure from Everton is something that should be discussed in the coming days.

Calcio Mercato says Bernard’s agent is flying to England to sort out several situations, and one of them is to speak to the Toffees regarding the player’s future at the club.

There’s no other news on Roma’s efforts to sign the player, as more information should get to the Italian side once the representative works on the subject with the Goodison Park side.

Earlier today, Marcel Brands confirmed that the club could offload some players in the January transfer window.
