Lazar Markovic’s time at Sporting looks like it could be coming to an abrupt end.
Allowed to leave Liverpool on loan in the summer, as Jurgen Klopp believe his squad didn’t need the player, Markovic reunited with his former Benfica manager Jorge Jesus.
The move was expected to go well, but, for whatever reason, hasn’t. Sporting are in something of a crisis this season and struggling both on and off the pitch, so perhaps circumstances have failed the Liverpool owned player.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola report that Markovic’s agent has travelled to Lisbon to arrange the end of his loan there, with the player then returning to Liverpool and going out on loan somewhere else.
Jesus had wanted to keep Markovic in his squad, but Sporting’s president has got other ideas.
Maybe Klopp can find a place for the talented 22 year old in Liverpool’s squad for the second half of the season, negating the need for another loan.
Markovic has been left out of Sporting’s squad, and may have played his last game for the club.
