Seemingly destined for great things at Chelsea, Marcin Bulka surprised more than a few when he decided to swap Stamford Bridge for the Parc des Princes this summer.

Signing a two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, the 20-year-old immediately became Keylor Navas’ number two after Gianluigi Buffon’s return to Juventus and Alphonse Aréola’s loan to Real Madrid, and even made his first start on August 30th in a 2-0 win over FC Metz.

However, Sergio Rico then arrived on loan from Sevilla to provide more experience backup to the Costa Rican and Bulka hasn’t sat on the bench since.

The Spaniard’s presence at the club is just for one year (although they do have an option to buy), so it shouldn’t hinder Bulka’s chances of making the first-team too much down the line, and it seems like he has a bright future ahead of him.

That’s, at least, what one of the agents who helped the deal go through believes, as Yvan Le Mée sat down with ParisTeam in France to discuss the move he was involved in.

Working with Football Capital, the Frenchman explains why they chose to take the player away from Chelsea and the reason behind the Paris Saint-Germain choice.

He said: “Because they’re one of the major clubs in Europe. When we started discussions, Buffon and Areola were still in Paris. For Bulka, it was interesting for him to work with them. You need to know that Marcin was looked at by many big European clubs when he was in Poland.

“At Chelsea, everything was planned for him to become the first-team starter, but then the Blues signed Kepa for seven years. Bulka then had no reason to stay there”.

Now the number three at the club behind Navas and Rico, the young Poland international will have to bide his time, but the fact Rico is just on loan and Navas isn’t getting any younger at 32 years of age bodes far better for him than sitting behind a 25-year-old Kepa on a seven-year contract.
