Even though Brighton & Hove Albion continue being linked to Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Maycon, it doesn’t really seem like to Seagulls are advancing in their pursuit.

The 25-year-old is currently having a loan spell at Corinthians until the end of the year, and according to journalist Jorge Nicola, the Brazilian club are trying to buy him.

Shakhtar Donetsk are said to be demanding between €6m and €7m for the sale, as they won’t accept to renew the loan. Now the Timão try a big effort to afford that amount.

“Corinthians are making an effort to try to buy him. Let’s see if in the next few days we will have news,” said Marcelo Vojnovic.

That’s when the Brighton come in, with Nicola claiming that the Seagulls and Porto are also interested in the player.

The truth is that the Premier League side have been mentioned in this race for a while now, but we have never seen any developments.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi worked with Maycon at Shakhtar Donetsk, and it was said he’d like to have him by his side again at the Amex.

With Corinthians struggling to afford that amount, that would be a great chance for the Seagulls to get a January deal, but we keep waiting to see if they will make a concrete move for him.
