Kalidou Koulibaly to Manchester City is full of drama.

The Premier League club have been linked with the defender for some months, with the player’s agent, Fali Ramadani, going between City and Napoli trying to build a deal.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has spoken publicly several times about his player’s situation, and last week said City have refused to negotiate directly. The Premier League club felt cheated when Jorginho joined Chelsea instead of them, and clearly weren’t happy with how the Serie A club dealt with the midfielder’s exit.

Gazzetta dello Sport now reports Ramadani is expected to give City’s latest response by Saturday. That is likely to be on whether Pep Guardiola’s side are willing to match the €70m requested by Napoli, or at least how close they’ll get.

Over at Corriere dello Sport, it’s stated Napoli are holding out for €70m plus a further €10m in bonus payments, and that Manchester City have offered €50m plus €10m in bonuses.

Napoli are unlikely to get the full amount, and that’s something De Laurentiis surely knows by now.

Given how messy it’s been so far, it would be no surprise to see City make a final take-it-or-leave-it offer, allowing them time to secure another target should Koulibaly’s signing prove too difficult this summer.
