Expected to go far during the 2016 Euros, Croatia limped out after an extra-time defeat to eventual winners Portugal in the first knockout round, with many feeling they should have gone further.
Blessed with a lot of talent within their ranks, Luka Modric and co. always posed a threat for opposition defences, with Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic one of the more dangerous forwards of the group stages.
The 27-year-old forward, coming off the back of a decent season for Inter Milan, impressed greatly, and has since been linked with a move away from the Serie A side, despite only arriving last summer from Wolfsburg.
His agent, Tonci Martic, spoke to FCInterNews on Monday about his client’s future, failing to any of it up in the process.
He said: “Will he stay at Inter? Generally, I would say yes, but in football you don’t know what can happen. It’s normal that clubs like Barcelona and Chelsea are interested in Ivan. He’s played at such a high level that he would have no problem to play in any European team.”
The player still has four years on his Inter contract, meaning any fee to bring him to the Premier League or La Liga would be a very high one, especially considering his status in Roberto Mancini’s team.
Perisic scored nine goals and provided six assists in 37 appearances for Inter Milan last season.
